One Week M’Goun Valley Trek

Arrive in Marrakech, where your private driver welcomes you at the airport and transfers you to your riad or hotel. The first day is kept light so you can settle in, rest after your journey and enjoy the first atmosphere of the ochre city.

Depending on your arrival time, take a short walk near the medina, enjoy mint tea on the rooftop or have a relaxed welcome dinner. This first evening gives you time to prepare before the guided trek begins in the M’Goun region of the High Atlas.

Leave Marrakech after breakfast and travel toward the Central High Atlas. The road gradually moves from the city into mountain landscapes, passing rural areas, traditional villages and scenic valleys before reaching the Aït Bouguemez region.

Arrive in the Arous Valley, where the mountain atmosphere becomes immediately present. Depending on timing, enjoy a gentle acclimatization walk through nearby villages, terraced fields and traditional paths. This first stage introduces the rhythm of the trek and the local life of the High Atlas.

Begin the guided trek toward the Tarkeddit Plateau, one of the most impressive open mountain areas in the M’Goun region. The route follows mountain paths, valleys and highland landscapes, with wide views over the surrounding peaks.

This is a true trekking day and requires a steady walking rhythm. Your local guide and support team manage the logistics, while the pace can be adapted to the group’s level. Arrival near Tarkeddit, where the night is spent in a simple mountain camp or trekking accommodation.

Continue trekking through the M’Goun mountain landscapes toward Oulilimt. The day offers a beautiful combination of wide mountain views, remote trails, mineral scenery and valleys shaped by seasonal water and pastoral life.

The route gives travelers a deeper sense of the Central High Atlas, away from the busiest trekking areas. Along the way, your guide shares insight into local geography, traditional movement routes and the seasonal life of mountain communities. Overnight near Oulilimt in simple trekking accommodation or camp.

Today’s trek leads gradually back toward inhabited valleys and the peaceful village landscapes of Aït Bouguemez. The scenery softens as the route moves from higher mountain areas toward cultivated fields, walnut trees, traditional houses and terraced slopes.

Arrive in R’bat, one of the villages of Aït Bouguemez, known for its calm atmosphere and authentic rural setting. This stage offers a strong contrast with the previous mountain days, bringing travelers back into village life after the highland trekking section.

After breakfast, enjoy a final quiet moment in R’bat and the Aït Bouguemez Valley before leaving the mountains. Depending on timing, take a short village walk or stop for views over the valley before beginning the return journey to Marrakech.

The road back offers a final look at the landscapes of the Central High Atlas, with villages, mountain roads and rural scenery along the way. Arrive in Marrakech in the late afternoon or evening and settle back into your riad. The evening is free for a hammam, a rooftop dinner or a relaxed walk in the medina.

Depending on your flight schedule, enjoy a final morning in Marrakech. You may have time for a rooftop coffee, a short walk through the medina, a garden visit or final shopping in the souks.
